Sympathy Card - Artist's Bio

"But, If I can't learn to hate you, then I guess I'll love you forever"

Pop Punk isn't dead and Sympathy Card is proof. The project is comprised solely of Sterling Johnson and his musical capabilities. While the project is a new face to the music scene, Sterling himself is not, having released his first public EP in 2018. Under his own name, Sterling has released 2 EPs and a good handful of covers. Under the project Sympathy Card, Sterling has released exactly one EP, If I Can't Learn To Hate You. The EP is currently available on Bandcamp as a name-your-own-price deal. This means you can choose to give money to the musician or get the music for the minimum price set by the artist. All of Sterling's music has been released for a minimum of free. Discography:
If I Can't Learn To Hate You - Released on August 28, 2020, The EP was released as a 5 track EP on Spotify, and a bonus track was included on the Bandcamp release. The album is a hybrid of Emo and Pop Punk, with a good mix of the twinkly style of Midwestern Emo. Sterling has stated the band Hot Mulligan is one of his favourites and the influence is very easy to notice. All of the songs on the EP (including the Bandcamp bonus track) centre around the thoughts and ideas of a now-ended romantic relationship. Basically, it's a bunch of angsty breakup songs. But wording it that way is almost dismissing the clear love and polish put into each song, making them all sound like they've been recorded and mastered in a professional studio with a sound engineer. Instead, the album was completely produced by Sterling himself, proving himself to be more competent than most starting musicians. The only exception is "Seasonal Effect" which features some additional writing and production by Liam Velez-Russel, Matthew Mele, and Alex Volpentest. "Something I Heard At A Party" also features some additional writing and guitar work by Liam Velez-Russel. Sympathy Card has already proven to be a great musician and a fit addition to anyone's musical repertoire. I can absolutely recommend Sympathy Card and Sterling's other work.
